TPHA Microtitre Plate Kit
The TPHA Microtitre Plate Kit is a highly sensitive and reliable serological assay specifically designed for the detection of antibodies against Treponema pallidum, the causative agent of syphilis. This kit provides a complete solution for both clinical and research laboratories, ensuring accurate and reproducible results in routine serodiagnosis.
The assay is based on the use of TPHA Test Cells (R1), which are preserved avian erythrocytes coated with the pathogenic T. pallidum antigen (Nichols strain). During testing, the presence of antibodies in patient serum causes visible hemagglutination of the coated erythrocytes. To ensure specificity, non-specific reactions are detected and controlled using Control Cells (R2), which are avian erythrocytes without T. pallidum antigen. Residual non-specific reactions can further be eliminated through an absorption step using the Control Cells.
To enhance specificity against pathogenic T. pallidum, antibodies reacting with non-pathogenic treponemes are removed by incorporating Treponema Reiter extract in the cell suspension. All reagents are supplied at optimized concentrations and ready-to-use dilutions, which simplifies assay preparation and ensures consistent performance across all recommended testing methods.
The kit includes positive and negative controls, providing built-in quality checks for accurate result interpretation. It is suitable for serum samples and can be applied to all standard TPHA testing formats, making it a versatile tool for syphilis serodiagnosis in diverse laboratory settings.

Storage and Handling:
Reagents should be stored at 2–8°C and must not be frozen. Vials should be kept upright to prevent cell aggregation. If aggregates form, gently mix the vial before use to disperse the cells evenly. The shelf life of all components is 18 months under proper storage conditions.
