ALFRED 60/AST

Highlights & Key Features
Key Features:
  • Patented Light Scattering Technology: Detects live microorganisms in real-time and provides quantitative results in CFU/ml.
  • Full Automation: Manages the entire process automatically, including sample inoculation, reading, and result reporting.
  • Individual Sample Management: Real-time monitoring of bacterial growth curves with single-sample management.
  • Exceptional Flexibility: Equipped with a universal rack compatible with various tube sizes and continuous loading for high throughput.
ALFRED 60/AST

The ALFRED 60/AST is the first fully automated instrument for bacterial culture and antibiotic resistance detection. Utilizing specialized reagents, this system enables rapid bacterial culture, Residual Antimicrobial Activity (RAA) testing, clinical antibiotic susceptibility testing (AST), and rapid phenotypic screening for multi-drug resistant organisms (MDRO) within hours, delivering high sensitivity and specificity. The system automates the entire workflow—from sample inoculation and reading to result transmission—maximizing efficiency for modern microbiology laboratories.

Advantages:
  • Outstanding Speed:
  • Urine Culture: Results in 3 hours (cut-off 30,000 CFU/ml).
  • Human Body Fluid Culture: Results in 6 hours (cut-off <50 CFU/ml).
  • Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing (AST): Results in 3–5 hours.
  • MDRO Screening: Results in 6.5 hours.
  • Integrated Testing: RAA tests are performed simultaneously with culture tests for a more comprehensive clinical overview.
  • McFarland Monitoring: Optional McFarland standardization for automatic inoculum calibration.
  • Smart Storage: +10°C cooling area for automatic storage of positive samples.
  • Ease of Use: Intuitive interface and fully automated workflow minimize human error and reduce manual workload.
